Sheep Data Services was founded by Ellie Lugsdin in late 2022 to service the needs of the stud and commercial sheep industry. Ellie has a Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) from CSU and has recently completed her Honours in lamb survival.
Ellie has extensive experience in both stud and commercial management. She has spent the last 10 years managing Yanco White Suffolks and has been responsible for the implementation of EID systems, data management, artificial insemination and embryo transfer programs. The addition of Matesel when it was first introduced revolutionised the breeding program, maximising performance in economically important ASBVs whilst minimising coancestry and birthweight ASBVs in the stud. She also started the on-farm sale, which has grown to be highly successful, selling rams across the country to stud and commercial buyers.
Ellie has also been responsible for the data management for her family's farm, Lugsdin Farming, incorporating a progressive, non-mulesed commercial flock of 5000 Merino ewes, shorn 6 monthly, and a prime lamb operation using a Merino ewe base. Lugsdin Farming collects side samples and fleece weights at hogget shearing, breech wrinkle scores at lamb marking and pregnancy scan data for selection purposes and implements this data into the classing and selection of sheep.
